We take securing your content very seriously, and employ numerous measures to mitigate the risk of users pirating or gaining unauthorized access to your content. Some of these measures are detailed below.
Highly Restricted Audience
Only registered account-holders who have purchased a ticket to the Virtual Event are able to access any of the content, and only during the availability window that has been specified. No other user can access the content. The number of tickets can also be limited, and geographic restrictions can be put in place.
Through these audience restrictions, the probability of someone pirating your content is greatly reduced, especially in comparison to a film made widely available via a VOD service.
TLS Encrypted Connections
All connections to Xerb are encrypted using TLS encryption to prevent intermediaries from reading any data.
Strong Content Security Policy
We use a Content Security Policy that whitelists the active content that can run on a page, which proactively prevents many potential security vulnerabilities.
This powerful functionality is unfortunately only employed by less than 1% of the world’s top 1 million websites. We strongly encourage any providers to consider implementing this technology, which you can read more about on the MDN Content Security Policy page.
Secure Infrastructure
Our services are hosted on server infrastructure provided by Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services, both designed for extremely high levels of security, with a least-privilege model of access. We make use of Role Based Access Control (RBAC) to ensure that even our internal staff has only a narrow level of access needed to complete the functions they perform.
Highly Experienced Engineering Team
The majority of our engineers have over a decade of experience building software, including for top technology companies like Google. We take security very seriously, and have integrated this mindset into our software development practices and our organization as a whole.
Weighing Risks and Rewards
We understand that it can be unsettling to release content online, and while it is impossible to completely eliminate threats, it is possible to take measures to greatly reduce them and to mitigate their potential impact.
It is worth noting that even the major studios, by far the biggest targets of piracy, regularly release their content online in spite of the risks. They understand that there will always be a tradeoff whenever content is released in any format, including online, but have determined that the payoff is worthwhile.
